Williamston, a city located in Ingham County, Williamston Township, is 15 miles east of Lansing and 11 miles east of East Lansing. Williamston is easily accessed from I 96. Williamston, once a thriving farming community has evolved into a bedroom community where most residents commute to other towns.
Williamston is home to many antiques stores and specialty shops in the downtown area as well as two golf courses. It's downtown shopping district and residential areas make Williamston a serene place to call home. The Williamston Community Schools District provides outstanding educational opportunities to its residents. Williamston subdivisions include Williamston Estates, Ohanlon, Windnwood, Oakleaf, Woodview, Cherry Valle, Plymouth Landing, Ponderosa, Pine Knoll and Larkins.
Williamston hosts many popular events in the Mid-Michigan area. The Red Cedar Jubilee is a week-long festival usually held the last week of June. There are many events for everyone and proceeds from the Red Cedar Jubilee benefit local community groups. On the first Saturday in December, the downtown hosts the annual Light Parade. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, Williamston's Downtown Development Authority, Economic Development Corporation and City Government sponsor a weekly Farmer's Market.
